New Painting !

Living in the Strawberry Patch
5" x 5" Original...........$ 295
Rabbits and strawberries  are on my mind now that the 4th of July is coming around the
corner. I wanted to express the clear bright sun of summer time, with the bold juicy red color of a strawberry.  Combine that with the sweetness of a rabbit and you have the painting,

Maine, and Gardening !

I just finished picking fresh strawberries, they are warm from the afternoon sun. They will be a wonderful treat for after dinner tonight. What happen to America and Gardening? The USDA estimates that in 1943, 20 million backyard Victory Gardens produce 40 percent of the country's fresh vegetables. How great is that !!!! The shocking news is that today only 1 to 2 percent of our fresh vegetable are grown in our back yards.  Bummer.....

I am thrilled  to write that here in Maine, on our little country road, I can count at least 9 very large vegetable gardens. All full of tomatoes, corn, lettuce , squash , and much more. I my self have over a 100 head of garlic growing. I am proud of my garden, I look out at it and I see my family and all the love we have. Two years ago I became very ill with Lyme disease. I was so sick that I was in the Hospital and walking on a cane.  On Mothers day that year, my family came up and built raised beds for the garden and hauled many, many yards of dirt to fill them.  Everyone pitched in , young and old, with shovels in hand .  By late in the afternoon I had 6 raised beds, 4ft X 12ft full of dirt ready to go ! So when I bite into a sweet strawberry, I know it is full of Love and Sunshine. Thank you to all of my family, for the greatest gift of all, My Garden !

That is me ...MERCURY !!!!!!

I am so blessed to have senior dogs, Jasmine who just turned 13 years old and Stone who is 11. Their  days of blasting through the forest are now behind them. Sunbathing on the back deck and snuggling on the couch is what they love now. I sat them down and asked them if it would be OK if i could write about Mercury the blue Weimeraner ? They both said yes, only if i would write how much faster a grey  Weimeraner is compare to a blue. Stone says all that color makes Mercury slow...I am happy  that  my seniors  said it was OK, and their old noses are not to bent out of shape.

Hi I am Mercury, the blue Weimeraner , being young and kind , I will let the seniors have their way. So lets get to the important part The Boothbay Land Trust which was Founded in 1980.  The  Boothbay  Land Trust is a non -profit organization working to conserve the natural beauty of Boothbay and  the surrounding areas.  The Boothbay Land Trust preserves and provide over 30 miles of hiking trails. They are open year round and free of charge...how cool is that. When I go hiking  with my papa Robert, we enjoy meadows, forest, wetland and scenic vistas. I chew sticks while papa Robert does the scenic vistas stuff. Some of the trails are easy, others are more challenging............ What,,,,,That is all I can say.   Oh  ya, more details to come.        Do  you like my picture?   That is me ....MERCURY !!!!!!

Dogs = Loyalty

Here I sit on a Sunday morning , tea in hand, contemplating
my dogs. Watching them looking out the front door  for
anything to tell me about.  A dog goes by, they must bark and
warn me.

Dog = loyalty.  Dogs are devoted to their owner with a sense
of loyalty that I am always trying to live up to. They do not pass
judgement. They do not care what name brand clothes  I am wearing , or what kind of  car I  drive. They could careless how much money I make.  Their loyalty is above and beyond all the
things we humans often find important.

So as i sip my tea  I think to myself  can i go through my day  trying to not to  pass judgement ? I am human, and yes I walk on
just two legs. We shall see.............Lessons from Jasmine and Stone.
